About Us
Bloomington Montessori School is a privately funded, not-for-profit school for children ages 3 to 12, preschool through Grade 6. The school is a Step 9 certified member of the American Montessori Society, currently in the self-study process for full accreditation.  We recently celebrated our 50th anniversary. Certified Montessori teachers lead each classroom.   We are  recognized as a model Montessori school and a community hub for peace and education.

Who we’re looking for:
We are seeking an energetic leader and manager to serve as Head of School for our established Montessori school, starting in summer 2019.  Lead our interactive partnership of children, families, and staff in a mission of high quality Montessori education.

The Head of School serves as a central leader and connector, working closely with administrators, teachers, staff, families, and the Board of Directors.  In this role you foster community and culture while supporting the team, operations, and environment required for positive educational outcomes.  You excel at driving the larger vision for the future direction of the school, fostering Montessori philosophy, and developing a thriving, transparent and participatory school culture.  As a people manager, you empower teachers and an administrative team, provide development opportunities, and continuously improve and grow together.  As head of operations, you ensure operational excellence, oversee all key programs and functions and build consensus by sharing, inspiring and communicating among all constituents. 

Qualifications & Skills
·         Minimum of a B.A. or B.S. degree
·         Extensive administrative experience (in an educational setting preferred)
·         Knowledge of Montessori education philosophy (Montessori Credentials preferred)
·         Demonstrated organizational leadership and vision
·         Excellent people management skills including hiring, onboarding, training & development, and coaching for success
·         Strong operational skills including experience with finance, policy and regulatory compliance, maintenance, communications, public relations, development & fundraising
·         Strong verbal and written communication skills
·         Ability to lead and manage large initiatives
·         A “get it done” attitude
·         Natural collaborator and team player

Roles & Responsibilities
School Leadership
·         Drives strategic planning and corresponding initiatives in accordance with the Vision, Mission and Values of Bloomington Montessori School
·         Supports the Director of Montessori Programs and Lead Teachers to build programs, achieve educational goals and resolve classroom and community issues
·         Facilitates communication among all of the school’s constituents and encourages their participation in activities and events
·         Builds constructive liaisons with other educational institutions, associations and the community at large
·         Serves as a non-voting member of the school’s Board of Directors
·         Coordinates with the Board on issues of policy, finance, operations and personnel

Operations
·         Oversees daily operations of school, ensuring a safe and friendly environment
·         Coordinates the planning of school functions, activities and programs
·         Ensures compliance with all applicable governmental laws and regulations
·         Serves as school business manager, including budget development and management
·         Oversees enrollment policy and practice
·         Enforces all school policies
·         Coordinates internal and external school communications
·         Supervises school maintenance and security

Personnel
·         Coordinates hiring process
·         Oversees administrative team, faculty and staff, leading and supporting them, mediating disputes and ensuring role fulfillment
·         Administers contracts, compensation, scheduling and development for all staff
